The 2025 Pennsylvania Foundry Association (PFA) Annual Business Meeting has wrapped up, and what a fantastic event it was! We extend our sincere thanks to all attendees, speakers, and sponsors who made this year’s gathering both insightful and engaging. Over two days, participants had the chance to connect, learn, and exchange ideas that continue to strengthen Pennsylvania’s foundry community.
The event kicked off Thursday morning with a tour of The Buck Company in Quarryville, offering members a firsthand look at one of the state’s leading foundries in action. The tour sparked meaningful discussions on efficiency, sustainability, and innovation within foundry operations. The day continued with a reception at the Burning Bridge Tavern Lodge, where members reconnected over food, conversation, and shared goals for the year ahead.
Friday’s sessions brought a strong lineup of speakers addressing critical topics shaping the future of our industry. Stephen M. DeFrank, Chairman of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, opened the morning with insights into the state’s energy outlook and the role of utilities in supporting industrial growth. His remarks set a forward-looking tone that carried through the day.
Next, Luke Bernstein, President & CEO, and Alex Halper, Senior Vice President of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Commerce, discussed the economic landscape and workforce challenges facing manufacturers statewide. Their presentation emphasized the importance of advocacy and collaboration to ensure a competitive business environment for Pennsylvania foundries.
Following a short break, Mark Genau, Director of the JFF METAL Apprenticeship Program, shared valuable updates on workforce development initiatives designed to prepare the next generation of skilled trades professionals. His insights highlighted the strong connection between education, industry partnerships, and long-term sustainability in the foundry sector.
Rounding out the program, Paul Heydt and Art Girard from Victaulic delivered an engaging presentation on Six Sigma Green Belt Operations, offering practical strategies for process improvement and operational excellence that resonated deeply with attendees.
We extend our gratitude to everyone who joined us, and to Donsco for their continued sponsorship and support of the PFA community. Events like this remind us of the strength, adaptability, and shared commitment that define Pennsylvania’s foundry industry.
As we look ahead to 2026, we remain inspired by the collaboration and innovation that fuel our collective success. We look forward to another year of growth, partnership, and progress!
